Isn't she lovely

Description

Here it is! Arrgh! Finally I've finished it. Here's a portrait of our daughter, a picture taken in our garden (It is not and won't ever be published). I decided to portrait our daughter since I've been mostly drawing people I don't know at all :D . She has seen it and seems to like it.

Man, this has been such a challenge... I would never have suspected it would be that long. I've started a few weeks ago but in the end I've spent like 20-30 hours...

All in all, the fabric drove me mad! I HATE STRIPES! But in the end I'm pretty satisfied with the result. To give you an, idea: the *right* sleeve took me about 4-6 hours in total! I took another approach for the left part of the clothe so I painted a large single-colour area and started to apply shading. I tried to completely abstract the colours to do only darker/lighter areas. Then and only then I coloured the stripes -- the most exciting part (I'm being sarcastic here :D as I HATED that!).

I also painted some areas with soft purple and gray to give more depth to the fabric. I absolutely don't know if it was the way to go and I'm certain it's the last time I paint such complicated patterns -- next time I'll paint uniform colours... .

Globally I started with the face. Then the cap, painted globally with pink, the kitty, arms, the orange tubes of the slider (she's leaning on her toboggan) and ended with the fabric. The background is based on a green bokeh that I smudged with random foliage brushes.

Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? (For best experience, listen to Stevie Wonder's song «Isn't she lovely».)

Comments welcome on this one :) . Thank you for your attention.

UPDATE

:bulletgreen: Shaded the area over her right eye
:bulletgreen: Enforced hair contrast on her left cheek
