The Brave by JAMsEye The Brave by JAMsEye
The Brave

My first fan art about 300, an absolute *must-see* :D . I've spent maybe about 15-25 hours in total. I've really had much fun with this one. I used everything I could and have learnt from other awesome deviants. In this drawing I mostly used round and dust brushes with scatering for randomness on the helmet, the blade, dirt, aso.

I painted from a screen capture. Of course it's not 100% accurate. I've also added a few details and changes — a warrior with a clean blade doesn't look very serious. So I've added blood and scratches on his blade. It's not the only details I've added, can you spot more? ;)

The reference picture was a little bit blurry and I wanted the final drawing to be neat. That was not easy but I like the result. The explosion is very rough but, hey, that's an explosion, right?

EDIT - Adjustments:

:bulletgreen: Decreased saturation on the cape
:bulletgreen: Blurred a few areas for more depth/movement
:bulletgreen: Re-coloured the fire trail to make it consistent with the explosion
:bulletgreen: Added a light halo/dust around the shield
___

[In case you wondered, I did not use my previous explosion on this one. I keep «Blown away» for another deviation.]

You read it: this is the first one. There will be three in total.

Dedicated to :iconsheridan-j: .

EDIT: Intermediate step there:

Sparta: the battle - WIP by JAMsEye

Hope you like.

very well done :) details: scratches and signs of use on the helmet and arm armor. A scar on his chest.
Only one thing's bugging me; it looks like he doesn't have a lower jaw.
This movie was made for woman :D lot of sexy spartan's in sparse armor.

Thanks a lot  . I know what you mean about the lower jaw. I looked twice and more to the screen capture I made and it looks like there is none indeed. I think it's hidden right behind the lower part of his helmet. Well, even if I'm not a woman, I must agree with what you said :D .
